bad pain in side, bottom and top of left foot

Question
Yesterday after I got off the phone I found my foot really hurt on one side so I dismissed it as I thought I had put my foot in an uncomfortable position.  The pain steadily got worse to the point that it woke me up at night.  I am 30 weeks pregnant so an xray is out.  Should I see a dr anyway?  What can they do without an xray?

Answer
Hi Marissa,

It is likely that this may be a foot strain that will resolve.  I would ice the area and try to decrease activity.
If over the next week there is worsening or no relief from your foot pain, I would see a Podiatrist.

It would be difficult to see a stress fracture early on even with an x-ray.  Even without an x-ray there are treatments if necessary.  If there is a sprain with swelling, you could benefit from some type of immobilization.
