Question
Hi

My Mom is in her 70's and has a large bunion that bothers her all the time.  Because of her age most doctors do not want to do surgery to remove the Bunion.  Is there anything
new being done for Bunions ,  such as laser surgery or
other new technology

thanks

Ken

Answer
Hi Ken,

There really are no new types of procedures or new technologies for removal of a bunion.  There is either surgery or wearing wider shoes.
However, here age in not a reason not to have the surgery. She can be 80 or 90 and have the surgery. If she is medically stable and has good circulation the surgery can be performed.
You may need to see several Drs. to find someone that will do the procedure.

Hope that helps.

Sincerely,
