pain on top of foot

Question
i'm a veterinary technician, so i'm on my feet 10-12 hrs a day. on my right foot i have intermittent pain above the 5th metatarsal.  when it does hurt it looks swollen and almost like there's a hematoma. it hurts to touch/rub it and when i stand on my tippy toes i can really feel it.  is it possible to have a fx and not have swelling and pain constant?  or am i just walking weird and irritating a nerve?should i just x-ray it at work?

Answer
Please do not practice medicine outside of your field
You should not xray your foot at work
Please see a podiatrist for a diagnosis
It' may be a ganglion cyst or irritated muscle-but what if it is a malignant bone cyst--would you be able to spot it on an xray?
Good Luck Again
