Question
Hello Dr. Katz,
I have a bed knee, posterior horn of medial meniscus and mcl tares. Knee often is swollen due to inflammation, unstable and stiff in mornings.
I've been suggested to take supplements. Do Wobenzym and Glucosamine with Chondroitin and MSM have the same action?
Thank you,
Allen

Answer
Hi Allen,

The goal of all of these products is the repair of joint cartilage and to reduce joint inflammation.  This can be the knee, ankle or hip or any other joint.

These are different products.  Glucosamine and Chondroitin are natural components of the cartilage and it is thought that supplying these supplements may help the body lay down more healthy cartilage and repair old cartilage.

Wobenzyme consists of enzymes that are found in the body and thought to help break down and repair damaged tissue and lessen inflammation.

MSM is methylsulfonylmethane.  This is a product that claims to boost sulphur levels in the body and help with inflammation and healing of joints.

I believe that alternative medicine is an excellent option.  In my experience, Glucoasamine/Chondroitin has had the best results and the most research.

Good Luck.
