smaller toe jumps over big toe

Question
The smaller toe next to my big toe jumps over my big toe and has caused a big knot to form on the toe next to the big toe. I probably should have had surgery on it, but I put it off and now when I have shoes on and walk it is very painful because of the big knot that has formed on the smaller toe.  I wanted to ask you if you think the knot on my toe is deformed bone? And if you think the podiatrist will do the surgery in his office. I would rather be put to sleep.  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Connie,

You will likely need surgery.  You will need to talk to your dr about the surgery.  I have no way of knowing where he performs the surgery. I would recommend having the procedure with IV sedation in an outpatient or hospital setting.

Yes the bump is likely bone.
