Dear Dr Katz,
Good day to you!
I wish to inquire regarding my left and right foot toe that seems to be unaligned. I only realised this when my uncle told me about the situation is the same as my aunt that she consulted a doctor before that this is an abnormal situation and require surgery in the long run. I'm not sure how true is it and wish to know if there's any other way to cure without going through surgery?
Kindly check on the attached image for better idea.
Hope you can advise.
Thank you! :)
Your deformity is called a bunion. This is a bony alignment problem that can be corrected with surgery. However, if there is no pain, I would just get some wider shoes. There are some stretches that can be done but this will not cure the problem. Only surgery can realign the bones. This may stay the same or worsen. If the area worsens and becomes painful then consider surgery.
