Hi...I fell several years ago and sprained my ankle. it eventually quit hurting but the front of my ankle bruied and turned bluish purple and has never gone away. what could cause that?

It is blood that is pooling under the skin causing the discoloration. Caused by very tiny blood vessels leaking.
Does not cause any harm, it just does not look good. I wish I could tell you exercise makes it go away, but even strenuous exercises and/or demanding aerobic exercise have no effect on this brusing. Plastic surgery is really the only way to get rid of it.
