Question
hi,
i have bones sticking out where my wrist and hands connect and i have the same problem with my feet. i am having problems walking and putting pressure on it. i have an appointment in two weeks. i have a burning sensation in the arc of my foot and also a sharp pain. There is no swelling at this point but it really hurt whenever i stand for long periods of time. i am also in the navy so i am really nervous about what the doctor will say. i have tried everything to ease the pain. i thought maybe the bone from the top of my foot is riding on a ligament to my arc. Do you have any insight for me? Can you provide me with the procedure he may perform if any? will there be a long down time from whatever the doctor diagnose?

Answer
Hi Michael,

The first step for your foot pain would an arch support or custom orthotic device.  I would try this before any surgery.

If you still have problems and you have what is known as an adult flatfoot, you may benefit from an implant that is placed in an area known as the sinus tarsi or subtalar joint.  These subtalar implants are less invasive than regular surgery, however, you will need to see if you are a candidate.

See the example below, there are many types from different companies.
