warm foot

Question
randomly when i'm sitting down, standing, or lying down, the inside of my right foot gets really warm for about 15 seconds, then fades. there is no pain, just heat. it is not any warmer to the touch than the rest of my foot. its like my foot has hot flashes. i'm just curious as to why.

Answer
Hi Laura,

These warm flashes are often the result of a nerve that is being compressed for a period of time.  It can even be the result of a muscle contraction next to a nerve which will cause a warm sensation in the foot.

This is typically nothing to be concerned about, however if there is associated pain or a larger area becomes involved, I would see a Podiatrist.
