Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I would like to have cryosurgery for my neuroma.
However, I had two alcohol injection which increased my pain.
I heard that the alcohol injection changes the structure of nerve.
Is cryosurgery still going to work for me?
Or Cryosurgery does not work after having alcohol injection.
Please let let me know.
Thank you.

ANSWER: You can still have cryosurgery after alcohol injections.  I suggest you continue the course of alcohol injections, however.  It is very common for pain to increase after the first two injections.  I always use them in a course of 7 injections and you should notice the pain resolve.

QUESTION: Thank you for your quick answer.
I have 5X5 and 10X7 neuroma for both feet.
My hope is the size reduces after alcohol injection, but what if they grow so fast since the alcohol injection is bi-weekly.  I don't want to lose any chance to reduce size and pain.  I belive with one cryosurgery could reduce the size of the neuroma and have alcohol injection to kill the nerve.
My question is how fast the neuroma is growing?  I have a job require standing and walking all day.
Thank you

Regard

Answer
Neuromas grow very slowly, certainly not within weeks.  I would pursue one treatment at a time.
