Question
I am a long distance runner and kept running even tho i had pain. Long story short..after the mri it showed a partial rupture of plantar fascia in the central band and an avulsion. I have been in a cam walker for 6 weeks. I still feel "something"...how long before it feels 100% and I can start running again.

Answer
Carol,

This injury often takes many months to fully heal.  Also, it is very important for you to be receiving physical therapy, especially if you want to run.

With my patient's, I start physical therapy early and they can run when there is no pain.  This usually occurs after 2-3 months.  However, with this type of injury people often develop chronic pain with frequent or occasional flare-ups.

I would really take it easy.  If you go back too soon and injury the area again, you will be back to square one.

Good Luck.
