Question
I had a surgery on Oct. 6th to reattach my Tibial Anteriro Longus Tendon. The incision did not heal and all of the skin along the incision became necrotic, the wound completely opened.I have Medicare and BXBS. Have you had much experience with tissue grafts (blood packs)or other or using Regranex?  If so do you find it difficult to get reimbursement for these procedures?

Answer
Dee,

Did you have an injury?  Do you have problems with your circulation? Are you diabetic?

Woundcare and limb salvage is my specialty.  I have alot of experience with foot grafts.  I can tell you that Regranex, in my opinion, is not a good wound healing product and is very expensive.  Blood packs/concentrates are questionable. The grafts that work well are reimbursable.  Other products are often covered in error.

I'm concerned that you still have not healed.  Have you been checked for bone infection?  Are you taking antibiotics.

You need to be seen by a Wound specialist as soon as possible.  Where do you live?

Sincerely,
