Thank you so much for your quick reply. I am located in the Charleston, SC area and would love to know if there is a certified cryosurgeon in my area. Again, thank you!

-----Question-----
In April, I had neuroma surgery that released the ligament (I did not have the nerve removed). My surgeon told me that it was one of the largest neuroms that he has seen and he's been operating on them for quite some time. All of my pre-surgery neuroma pain and numbness has returned and I think it's getting worse. I've tried acupuncture, but that does not seem to help. I am very hesitant to have the nerve removed because of complications when the nerve regrows. I'm interested in the cryosurgery but I've read that it may not work on large neuromas, which I obviously have. I'm not sure which direction to go in right now - any advice?!?

Nancy,

The largest neuroma line is a common phrase among surgeons.  Larger does not always mean more difficult to treat.

How was the last surgery performed.  Typically, when releasing the ligament you cannot see the neuroma. The surgery is done through a small incision.

I agree, removing the nerve often produces poor results and often there is worse pain from a nerve regrowth or "stump neuroma"

I believe cryosurgery is an excellent option.  First, the size is questionable.  Also, when the freezing probe is properely placed you should have a good result.  You may require more than one treatment.  You really have nothing to lose doing the Cryo.  You will likely get relief and very rarely would the area get worse.

Let me know where you live and I can help direct you to a certified Cryosurgeon in your area.

Nancy,

This is the only SC surgeon.  I know it is far from you.  If you go onto the website,
www.cryotechllc.com
you can find other locations.  Or if you want some sunny weather come to tampa and I will treat you.  Good luck.
