Question
A few weeks ago, about 3-4 now, I was jumping on my trampoline with my daughter, she had tumbled in front of me, and when I went to jump around her, my big and second big toe got caught in the enclosure and twisted my toes.  It hurt for a few days, and then was fine.  Now all of a sudden, almost four weeks later, the pain is there again?  It seems to be more in the second to the big toe and it hurts only when pressure is on it, like walking and climbing stairs.  Now, it is actually swelling sometimes during the day for no apparent reason.  I figured it was just a sprain, but it is not seeming to go away.  If you have any advice, it would sure be helpful, and I appreciate any.  Thank you.
Elizabeth

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,

You will need to get an x-ray and perhaps an MRI.  It is possible that you have a fracture or damage to the soft tissues around the joints.  In the meantime, ice and decrease activities.  Wear supportive shoes.

By now a simple sprain should have healed.  So please see a Podiatrist.

Good Luck.
