Question
I have recently had many of the symptoms of planter faciatis in both feet but I also had some swelling in one of my ankles. Is this a possible symptom also? Thank you for your time.

Answer
Tammy,

Plantar fasciitis is usually unrelated to ankle swelling.  However if there is heel pain some people will place excessive weight on the ankle and may develop swelling or pain.

Other causes of ankle swelling on one side may be arthritis or gout.  Often the cause is difficult to pinpoint.

I would say that it is likely unrelated.  In any event, if the symptoms continue, I would see a Podiatrist for treatment.
