Metarsalgia?

Question
This is something that has happened several times and I am wondering if I need to see a Dr.  The pads below my big toe (really between my big toe and second toe) swell up.  It is not painful - but feels like I am stepping on a rubber ball.  It does not seem to matter what shoes I wear or how much I am on my feet.  Usually it is just one foot thought sometimes both - but my left foot more often.  Any ides?

Answer
These Chicago Podiatrists, Elmhurst Podiatrists & South Loop Orthopedic Podiatrists say.......

Dear  Martha,
Sounds like it may be related to the big toe or second toe metarsophalangeal joint. See matatarsalgia on our website Anklenfoot.com for additional info.

This swelling may be caused by poor shoegear, foot type, prolonged standing, arthritis, and some other possibilities. Even though it is not painful-I recommend you see a Board Certified Podiatrist to help prevent any possible future problems.
Hope This Helps!
