Question
Hi,
Can cryosurgery be done if there is a damage nerve which cause pain like marble in the ball of foot.
The doctor gave a couple of alcohol injection, but there was no neuroma, I belive the injection cause damage on the nerve (with needle into the nerve) which causing pain, like marble inside of ball of foot.  According to the MRI, the nerve is thicken to 2mm but they are not say, it is neuroma.
Can Cryosurgery performed to reduce pain?
Please, let me know.
Thank you.

Regard
Sung

Answer
Hi Sung,

Cryosurgery can be used on any sensory nerve that is leading to pain.  It does not have to be a neuroma.  A nerve injury to the foot can result in the marble feeling and can cause chronic pain.  So foot cryosurgery is an option and would be far superior to regular surgery to remove the nerve.
