Numbness and swollen ankle

Question
I am 22 years old. The first time I discovered that my right ankle was swollen is 10months ago, went to my doctor and an x-ray was done but was negative. My doctor suggested I sprained my ankle.
After a month, I visited another doctor and he order a chest x-ray, CBC and enzymes test all came out negative.
I later realized that my left ankle is swollen and the right ankle reduced but not dramatically.
I went back to my doctor and she orders an ultrasound of my extremities and it came back negative. I am now required to wear TED while I am at work but I don't know if it's working.

Answer
Hi Abidemi,

Ankle swelling on each side at differnet times is unusual for your age.  I would see a rheumatologist to see if you have some type of arthritis or autoimmune disease.  Could possibly be gout as well.  I believe that you need to find a cause.
