calluses?

Question
I took dance lessons for 15 years, and for about 10 of those did pointe.  I constantly had blisters on the tops of my 2nd and 3rd metatarsals on both feet.  I have not dance now in about 12 years, but ever since I quit I've had these thick skin "bumps" where the blisters used to be.  They are not painful or hard and dry, but they don't look very pretty for sandal wear.  Could these be calluses or something else?  Is there any way to get rid of them without having to see a doctor?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
It's hard to say without seeing them, but most likely it is skin changes due to constant trauma. The only way to get rid of them is surgery, and I wouldn't recommend the surgery because that can also leave scars sometimes which look worse than what you have now, and in very rare cases be painful. Never trade ugly pain free feet for beutiful painful feet.
I could be wrong, so go see a podiatrist
