Foot pain/swelling

Question
The top of my left foot has been swollen for about two weeks now.  No pitting edema.  Painful when pressed.  Feels better in a sneaker.  I was treated with Indomicin for 6 days, with the doctor thinking it doesn't look like gout but treated me for it anyway.  I didn't injure the foot, but do walk 4 miles each day and do yoga and other fitness exercises, but don't recall any strain to the foot.  I don't know if its coincidence or if this may be the cause, but I started taking Estroven about a day before the swelling appeared, stopped taking it while on the Indomicin, and began it again a couple of days ago, and again the pain and swelling reappeared.  Its a natural substance, but could there be something in it to cause this pain and swelling.  I do wear flip flops all summer, but it is just in one foot.  Thank you so much for any insight you may have.  I did have an xray, which only showed soft tissue swelling.

Answer
Nothing you take orally should cause swelling on only one limb.  You may have an overuse injury that is causing the tendons to inflame.  Get evaluated by a podiatrist. It's possible that a simple insole or orthotic could help balance you better and eliminate the pain and swelling.

All the best,
