Ankle and top of foot

Question
Today in gym I rolled my ankle (I believe to the outside). I've never had any previous ankle problems, much less even rolled it like this. Anytime I've rolled it before, it was fine a few minutes later. My gym teacher thought I just tweaked it since I was ok to walk on it a few minutes later- it mostly just felt tight. It actually felt more sore when I just stood than when I walked.
It's been a couple of hours now though, and when I walk not only the outside of my ankle hurts badly, but the outside top of my foot hurts and the inside hurts a little as well. Will this go away if I just ice it?

Answer
PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Protect-wear a stiff shoe or stiff sandal while walking and try not to protect the ankle and wrap it good so it doesn't move. Check out our website for a post-op/surgical shoe-at our online store- www.AnkleNFoot.com
Rest-walk less and take a break every few hours to elevate.
Ice-on and of as much as possible for 3 days almost constantly and then as necessary for pain.
Compress-Mild ace wrap the area-which will also protect. Do this a lot!
Elevate-if it throbs elevate sooner.
After the injury quiets down in a week or so-physical therapy will help if it nags.
Max dose of Alleve or Advil for 3 days, then decrease dosage over the next 3-4 days. Stop if it bothers you or if you have stomach problem.
If it doesn't respond dramatically within 3-4 DAYS with the above treatment-SEEK x-rays and a sports medicine podiatrist-they will be the best to diagnose a hidden injury. Do not go to an E.R.-they are not the experts in sports injuries-just at saving lives.
Make sure you see an orthopedist or podiatrist to give you the best options if it continues to hurt.
Hope this helps!
Good Luck My Friend!
