Question
i have been experiencing foot spasms after i was directed to take prednisone steroids. I have myasthenia gravis but now the spasms or more frequently than normal..I just overcame not able to walk talk swallow etc after having plasma pheresis. what is it that i can do to stop the spasms or is it the medication i am on that have something off balance.

Answer
Hi,

The most likely reason for your spasms are related to dehydration or changes in your potassium levels.  Both of these can be caused by prednisone therapy.  I would speak to the physician treating you with the prednisone and have them check your labs and see if there is an issue.  I believe that these symptoms are not directly related to the foot and are more from a more generalized problem.

Good Luck.
