Question
Hi, I dicovered yesterday after pulling up my rug in the livingroom and pulling out all the nails and staples, that the lower part of my left leg has some mild numbness and I CANNOT move my left foot upwards, at all. I am now walking funny where I have to lift my knee high in order to get my foot up since I can't lift it upwards. I spent extensive time on the floor pulling up that rug and all the staples so not sure what I could have damaged in the lower leg or foot to cause that numbness and loose my mobitlity in my foot....Any help on what it might be and what I can do to get it back to normal, would be of GREAT help to me right now. Thanks!!!

Answer
Arthur,

If you have lost the ability to move your foot upwards you need to be concerned about a muscle tear in the leg/foot and also nerve damage of the back or leg causing foot drop.

This could be a serious problem that may not resolve on its own.  I don't want to alarm you but I believe professional help is needed in this case.  It may be minor but if it isn't you want to get treated early.

Keep me posted on your progress.
