Question
Hi, About three weeks ago I noticed a Lump on my third toe and it feels like its growing on the bone, it also feels hard and its a little bit bigger then the size of a pea but I am able to push it down into my foot. It doesn't hurt when I touch but lately I have sharp pain everyonce in awhile the runs through that toe to my heel. I went to the doctor and she told me it nothing that I should worry about, but I feel that it is something.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Amanda,

The lump on your toe sounds like a fluid filled cyst at the joint or coming from the tendon.  These may be called ganglion or mucoid cysts.  Typically these are benign lesions.  However, if you are having pain, I would see a Podiatrist for an exam, x-ray and possible MRI.  In some cases fluid can be removed from the cyst and the cyst is then injected with cortisone.

I would seek another opinion since you have pain.

Sincerely,
