Question
hi Doc. hope you can give me some advice. I am having trouble with knees ..one in particular. When I step on my foot a certain way my knee feels like it locks up for a min or so and it hurts. I went to er they said I sprained it but I don't believe that. I think it's stemming from feet trouble. I am on my feet all day and often standing in onespot. I supinate or under pronate pretty badly. I went to a podiatrist last wek. She recommended orthotic inserts but I CAN NOT afford them right now, I wear 100.oo new balance sneakers that Peltz shoes recomended but don't seem to be helping. I'm tired of aching knees, legs, back and hips. Any advice??? I've tried lots of over counter inserts but to no avail. What do you suggest? Thanks so much. Julie

Answer
Hi Julie,

There are a couple of options.  If you have insurance coverage you may be able to go for physical therapy.  Stretching and muscle strengthening is important.

In my opinion, orthotics are going to be your best option.  Over the counter types rarely work and shoes only will help to a small degree.

I'm not sure how much orthotics were from your Podiatrist.  I make my own in the office and they are much more affordable than the average Podiatrist.

If you are in the Tampa area you can come in for an evaluation.  Our number is 813-875-0555

Hope that helps.
