Morquio - and heel problems

Question
Hi, recent xrays have shown my 7 yr old with Morquio heel bones are being pushed outwards causing the weight of his body to push down on the smaller  bones in his foot that are not made for weight bearing - his arches of his feet are caving in and his toes are curling under.  This is impacting his hip and back causing pain. His surgeon is not sure what to do and is happy to wait for further deterioration - however I want to know if there is some sort of 'night orthotics' to help correct it - and something that can be made to help support it during the day. With the rarity of Morquio there are no experts so I'm trying everything I can to help him keep walking.
Thanks, Rachel

Answer
Hi Rachel,

Orthotics may very well be a good option.  However, I have had no experience treating patients with Morquio.  Below is a well known orthopedist that treats this condition or may be able to help you find the best doctor to help you.
