Healing and P/T process after Gastroc Recession

Question
I had a gastroc recession and have been in a boot for 2 weeks, day and night.
Tape is still over the stitches.  My questions are:
1) when is it okay to get the wound area wet (to shower)?  (The stitches are
disolvable)
2) When may I begin trying to walk without the boot?
3) How long should I wear the boot when sleeping? (my doc said 4 weeks)
4) When can I begin P/T?
5) What can I do now to help to begin gaining full use of my leg again?
6) The incision was in the front, halfway between my ankle and knee, to the right
of my shin bone.  But I feel pain mostly in my calf.  Is that normal?  Is massage
therapy on the calf recommended?
7) the lower front of my leg, from about the ankle and up about 6 inches, is
numb.  Why is that and will it go away?

Thanks so much for your response.

Answer
Hi Nancy,

These are all excellent questions.  These questions should have been discussed with your dr prior to having the surgery.  I would also recommend that you call your dr and get all of these questions answered asap.  I cannot advise you because I don't the exact procedure and each dr has their own protocol.  Please talk with your surgeon.
