Question

big toe 1
Hello

I have attached some pictures of my big toe..in February i was walking in the yard and got stung by a weed.  after that happened my cuticle began to look a little swollen and it stayed that way for a while.  about 3 weeks ago i noticed clear fluid and eventually blood coming from my cuticle.  i went to an urgent care/walk in clinic and the doctor gave me antibiotics and said it should clear up the bleeding. well it didnt.  he made a small incision at the cuticle of my toe and drained the fluid and it didnt hurt.  now my toe is still bleeding but it appears the skin is pulling back so to speak and i can see meaty looking stuff.  i have attached a picture. my toe doesnt hurt now and i have put peroxide and antibiotic ointment on it daily.  can you advise what may be doing on.?  i dont want to loose my toe nail or it get worse. thanks

Answer
Hi Queen,

You may have a some foreign material that is still in the area and also an infection. I would see a podiatrist and have them drain the area and make sure it is totally clear.  The red tissue is called granulation tissue which is from the irritation and healing.  `You may lose the nail but it maybe the only option to clear the infection.
