Question
Dr. Katz, I walk every day and sometimes while I am walking my ankle just gives out on me and it is very paintful when it does. What do you contribute that to? Also the bone on the top of my foot is in a lot of pain. It actually hurts when I put on a shoe or boot that covers that area and is painful to the touch.
Can you tell me what this could be caused from? Thank you.
Annie

Answer
Hi Annie,

You may have a tendon at the ankle that slips out of place and causes this pain or it could be from a problem inside the joint.  I would recommend that you see a podiatrist and have an exam and xray.  You may also get more information from an MRI.
