Bulge near ankle.

Question
Hi, I have this bulge on my right leg just above my ankle bone on the right side of the foot. The bulge feels equally as hard/soft as the rest of the muscle in the leg, but seems to feel smoother than the muscle in my leg. It is the exact same color as the rest of my skin and doesn't feel hot or anything like that. I've hurt my right ankle several times by spraining it pretty severely but admittedly never had it professionally looked at. I have quite literally sprained it or injured it at least 6 times since I was 15. (now 21) I have pretty severe pain in the ankle and in the rest of the foot that seems to come and go.

Not sure if this is your specialty or not or even if this is related to the bulge or not, but lately I've been having these absolutely awful muscle cramps and twitching in my legs. Behind my knee (especially) it feels like a slight jolt of electricity and causes me to jerk my legs. I do this a lot when I'm sleeping and it wakes me up. I also have a lot of muscle spasms in the legs and eating potassium/bananas/etc doesn't seem to make it go away. I get this feeling all in my legs and in my feet like someone is pricking me with something or like I'm getting shocked with itty bitty little jolts of electricity.

To top things off in the weird department, I've been getting these really deep indentations in my leg. I'll be perfectly fine one second, and then just all of a sudden look down and see a big gaping (but not open) hole in my leg.(Also right above my ankle, but on the left side, and when it happens there is a slight bulge right beside the indentation.) It usually evens itself back out within a few hours, and there is never an external cause for it. (someone suggested I might be leaning my leg up against something pointy and not realizing it, but almost every time it happened I had just gotten out of bed.) I have had swelling in my ankles/feet/legs in the past plenty without a known cause, but what I'm going through now seems to be nothing like that, and the indentations are definitely not caused by thumbing.

I used to have really solid and strong calves, but any more they just seem to be changing shape and losing definition. (pending I'm not imagining things)

This may or may not be even an issue of podiatry at all because it seems to have started happening around the same time I started having pre-syncope and nausea/loss of appetite episodes. It could be a total coincidence, but I feel like leaving that tid bit out would be counter-productive.

Answer
The ankle area could be due to the injuries and you may have developed a cyst around the ankle or have scarring of the area.  The leg cramps and swelling are likely unrelated to the ankle.  I would see your primary care physician for a general physical and basic lab work.  The primary doctor will possibly suggest a specialist if there are any abnormal findings.  That would be your best start.
