Question
My son just turned 6. He presents with flexible foot overpronation ,left slightly more then right. He doesn't complain of any symptoms, he is quite active -plays soccer. My question is if we should start thinking about orthotic management or is still early to start it? Thank you.

Answer
Hi Tomasz,

You will find varying opinions on orthotic management if there is no foot/ankle pain or any symptoms.  Many people go there whole life with flat feet and no problems.

I would consider an exam and evaluation of your sons feet and his walking and running patterns.  If he is active, he may benefit from the orthotic device especially since his bones and tendons/muscles are still developing.

So I would have an evaluation.  It's good that you are concerned and you are noticing these problems.

Good Luck to you and your son.
