Question
I banged my toe approximately 6 months ago and my doctor told me to let it grow out despite there being some blood on the nail. About 2 weeks ago, the nail cracked half way across and started coming off the nail bed. My doctor told me that I didnt need a podiatrist and that I should just file down the nail where it cracked and superglue it. Unfortunately, that's not exactly working and I think it might crack off. Do you have anything that you would suggest doing?

Answer
Hi Brent,

Superglue is not a good idea.  It is irritating and can cause a chemical burn or rash.

I would simply wear a Band-aid to keep the nail from moving until it falls off.

If that is not helping I would see a Podiatrist.  Actually, I believe your Dr is ill-informed and should have sent you to a Podiatrist at the beginning.

Good luck.
