Question
About 5 years ago I noticed that my 2nd toe at the top is turning inward. I do wear the Dansko clogs because my arches were hurting in shoes that have no support. Is there anything that would correct this problem? Sometimes there is pain when I am wearing hose, which is required for my work. It just looks very odd, having my toenail taking a sharp turn at my age of 49.

Answer
Feet are dynamic and, as such, bones shift and move around.  There is no way to move that toe back.  The mechanics can be stabilized with a custom orthotic which may prevent if from continuing to move.  There also may be surgery to realign the toe.  To know for sure, visit with your podiatrist.

All the best,
Andrew Schneider, DPM
