Question
I have had tendon surgery and wear orthotics. Now the tendon is becoming inflamed again. An orthopedic surgeon did the surgery, but a podiatrist fitted the orthotics. I have re-located so need new drs.

What q. should I ask to select the dr? Should it be an orthopedic dr or a podiatrist?

What do you suggest for athlete's foot? for fungus under the toenails? swollen ankles?

Thank you.

Answer
I would go to a podiatrist first, to re-establish your file and so your podiatrist will have an opportunity to view your situation. He will, if he finds it necessary, to recommend a orthopedic surgeon.

For your toenail fungus, ask your podiatrist for a prescription for Lamisil pills.

For swolen ankles, WHEN your podiatrist says you can walk normally again, i.e your surgery has healed, start a daily aerobics exercise program. The Step is good. Climbing stairs is great. Anything that you can get the legs moving, the muscles working, on a daily basis. Swolen ankles is bad. They are painful and can cause more serious problems. Also, watch out the salt intake.

Thank you for the question. If you have any more questions or comments, please write again. Have a great day.
