Question
I have an inflamed extremely painful pinky toe for the last 3 weeks.  I have attended two doctors and have had rheumatoid and crp bloods taken. The bloods have come back negative for rheumatism, gout and inflammation. This pain is confined to the pinky toe only and it seems worse when I walk on it.  I have been taking difene anti inflamattory medication which helps but doesnt cure the problem. My doctor does not think I have a bunion or any such obvious problems, what do I do now?

Answer
Hi Musky,

There are a few possibilities.  You could have a fracture that is not showing up on x-ray.  A future x-ray could show this problem.  You could have gout even if your uric acid is normal but above 6 in some cases.  If you continue with the pain I would have a repeat x-ray.  You could consider an MRI if the problem worsens.  Good luck.
