Question
In June of 2009, I sprained my ankle pretty badly. It's now January and I am still in pain. I have gotten X-rays and an MRI, but other than a slight thickening of the tendons the doctors can't find anything. I have no problem with instability or external swelling, just pain around the fibula with shooting pains laterally across the ankle, down the outside of the foot, and up the outside of the calf muscle. Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thank you

Answer
This Chicago Podiatrist says........

The MRI was probably done at the ankle and not the foot-or the MRI was not read by someone knowledgeable.
Sounds like a tear of the peroneous longus tendon.
Takes this info and go see a Podiatrist Board Certified in Orthopedics and or Surgery,

We are second opinion specialists and do these kind of surgeries.

We are less than 45 minutes from both Chicago airports and work with all insurances

Hope this helps!
