Question
Hi Marc,

I was out walking in sandals one hot day (at the 12 Apostles in Victoria, Australia) and felt what I thought to be a blister forming but didn抰 have time to do anything about it. When I took my sandal off, I was shocked to see the most ugly blister thing ever. As it so happened, I had an appointment with my podiatrist that week and he lanced it and told me to use Canesten liquid twice a day, applying it between the other toes in case it spread (which it did). I抳e been doing that since early November and yet it still hasn抰 cleared up totally. Is it normal for it to take that long? Is there anything else you could recommend I do, other than amputate my foot?

Many thanks,
Lyn

Answer
Hi Lyn,

Well we can certainly leave foot amputation as a last option!

Since you likely have a fungal infection, I would recommend a prescription foot fungus cream that may be stronger.  It should be applied twice daily for 2 months.  If this is not working, I would ask the podiatrist about taking an oral antifungal pill which will be stronger.

Good Luck
