Question
Can someone have Retrocalcaneal bursitis characterized by moderate to severe pain when the area is touched but not made worse by walking? What is the typical treatment plan?

Answer
HI Amy,

Retrocalcaneal bursitis can come from the shoe rubbing and cause pain to touch where the bursa has formed however the achilles tendon may not cause enough pull in that area to get pain wioth walking.  Try heel lifts on bot sides, ice and OTC anti-inflammatory.  If this does not help see a podiatrist.
