Question
I am 48 male Indian 85 kg 5f 11inch without any addiction or any kind of disease except mild hypertension (hereditary). I use to walk about 3.0 km per day in 40 min since last 5 years 5 days a week.  However, my weight was increasing although at a very mild pace i.e. about 1 kg per year on an average. So I started walking faster for longer period (4 km in 40 min) since last two months but now a days, whenever I cross about 1.5 km I start feeling anterior ankle pain in peroneal region on my left leg, which make me unable to walk fast anymore. The pain is not unbearable but prevent fast walk, and goes off if I take rest for about 5 minutes. It comes back as soon as I start the walk. So I have no other alternative but to reduce speed. How serious is the problem and is there any respite?

Answer
This Chicago and Elmhurst podiatrist says....

Sounds like you may be loosing your arch. That should be evaluated by a Board Certified Podiatrist and you may need orthotics.
Sometimes -but not always arch supports may help temporarily-usually orthotics are better if the arch is falling(posterior tibial tendon dysfunction).
Check out our online webstore AnkleNFoot.com for examples.
Decrease your pace, slowly increase your time to 45-50 ninutes and 10 more minutes of very slow walking-to warm down

Hope this helps!
Good Luck My Friend!
