Pain in Midfoot

Question
Hi,

Last year I sustained an injury to my right foot (the midfoot region). I was sent for x-rays after the pain presented, but nothing was found. Also, everytime I put on my sneakers, my foot would swell up and go numb. I have been to multiple doctor's for the problem and they all seem to think that I possibly had a stress fracture, but there was no indication on the x-rays (i had 2 separate sets done). I was given both naprosyn and something else that was supposed to help (neither did). I was also told to wear thick soled athletic shoes and arch support (inserts) because that would help. I was wondering if I did fracture something in my foot and it wasn't treated what I can expect because to this day I have pain in my foot. Is it too late to do anything about it? Would I need a stiff soled walking boot? If it is not a stress fracture, what could it be and should I be worried and what can I do for the pain??

Any information you can give to me would be hlpful.

Thanks,

Stacy

Answer
This Elmhurst & Chicago Podiatrist says.....

Dear Stacy,

If the foot is still hurting-get a hold of your x-rays and go see a Podiatrist Board Certified in Orthopedics or Surgery.
Obviously you have something going on and the Docs you have seen have been unable to figure it out. Perhaps an MRI or CAT scan of the foot may be warranted.
The thick soled shoes with supports may help.
Also if you are overweight and or stand all day-that will continue to produce excess pressure in that area.
Sorry I can't give any more info since the symptoms are vague

Hope this helps!
Good Luck My Friend!
