Answer
This Chicago & Elmhurst Podiatrist says.......

Dear Harry

You probably have irritated the joint or tendon(s) in the ankle area.
Start the ice right away!!

Try PRICE

Protect-perhaps an ace wrap around the ankle and limit the movements that aggravate it.

Rest-Speaks for itself-perhaps the weekend when you are off-rest it.

Ice- As much as you can tolerate. Pros put the injured ankle or other area into an ice bath for 15 minutes! Try ice packs instead for 3-4 days.

Compress-Ace wrap or ankle sleeve

Elevate-Will help if the ankle throbs at the end of the day.

Go to our website store at AnkleNFoot.com for examples of wraps, sleeves or braces for your ankle
Take max doses of anti-inflammatories (try Alleve) for about 5 days-as long as you don't have any stomach problems.
If these suggestions don't help  then seek the aid of Podiatrists who are Board Certified in Orthopedics. Sometimes these injuries respond with orthotics(prescription custom made) and physical therapy or other modalities.

Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
