Question
I have been having problems with my feet. At night they feel like they are on fire. Not just when I get in bed but like after I get home from work and take off my shoes. My right great toe is also numb and tingles. They are fine during the day. I am 43 and I do have borderline diabetes, I take metformin and my BS is in control. I also have graves disease, which makes my body temp a little warm anyway, But this thing with my feet is driving me crazy. I cant sleep with any covers on them and most nights I stand in the bathtub and run cold water on them,,, Help

Answer
Hi Melissa,

First there is an important fact that you need to understand.  You do not have borderline diabetes if you are on medication.  You have diabetes.  Hopefully you check your blood sugar at least daily.  You can get this burning with diabetes and also with thyroid disorders.  You likely have neuropathy.  I would see a neurologist and have them do some tests first before proceeding with treatment.
