My 15 month old grandson was born with his toenails turned up and back towards him.  What causes this and will it correct itself in later years?

Hi Carolyn,

There is no definitive cause for this problem.  Not a worrisome condition and in many cases the child will outgrow this problem.  However in some cases this may be part of a foot deformity with improper angle of the foot bones.  So I would see a podiatrist or a pediatric orthopedist and just have a basic exam to be sure all is well.
