Numbness in right big toe

Question
About a week ago I noticed numbness on the outside of my big toe.Now I get a sort of  shock on the top side if I hit or bump it.
Can you explain what this may be.

Answer
There are lots of nerves that run through our feet.  Some nerves run where there's not much padding for shock absorption.  An impact can affect the nerve temporarily (think about hitting your "funny bone").  In most cases it's only temporary.  If you have a bunion, this may be a sign to look into it further.

All the best,
