Question
Dear George,

I am writing about my mom. She is 80 years old and suffering from sever ostheoarthritis. She has almost lost her walking. She uses a walker, but even with that, she cannot walk.

She does not want to do surgery, and we can not force her. However, we have heard about Synvics. Do you have any information as if Synvics can be used for a long term to replace surgery?  Can she really walk after Synvics injection?

I appreciate any feed back.

Thanks
Sara

Answer
Dear Sara,

This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661, Roscoe Village 60618, Ukrainian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says,

The key to success to these treatments is that the patient is healthy, not overweight & willing to increase their walking/mild exercise. The injection is not a cure-it's lubricant, but it is known to work on most people.
That said, the injections may be a safe alternative to surgery. There may need to be up to three injections to see results. This may need to be repeated every six months.
Make sure that here primary care physician helps you make this decision.
Hope this helps &
Good Luck!
