Question
Hi, i blocked a shot playing football which inturn twisted my foot outwards. Initially i thought that id sprained my ankle, but slowly i realised the pain was on the top of my foot and not my ankle. It tends to hurt when i bend my foot downwards or upwards. Can you tel me what you think the damage is? And How can i help its recovery? How long does this normally take to heal?

Thank you

Answer
Hi Amran,

You could have a fracture so I would see a podiatrist for an x-ray.  You likely pulled and strained the tendons and muscles on the top of the foot.  Decrease your activities, use ice and see your podiatrist.  These conditions can last a week or longer but you need to make sure there is no fracture.
