Mortons neuroma excision

Question
I have had a Morton's neuroma in my left foot for about 6 months. I got two injections which helped, but only temporarily. I also got orthotics, but I find them uncomfortable and they only fit in one pair of my shoes. I am currently in grad school to be a physician assistant, and am finding money to be scarce. I don't want to continue to pay for the injections when they're only a temporary solution. From my research, I know that the next option is surgery, but am having difficulty finding about how much that might cost. I do have insurance, but it is not great. I was wondering if you could tell me a ballpark figure for the cost of the excision.

This Chicago & Elmhurst Podiatrist says.......

Dear Kellie,

I cannot answer the question-because prices vary according to geographic location and where the surgery is performed(office would be least expensive).
Perhaps go to a local university foot clinic for the neuroma surgery.
I would get bigger shoes and wait on getting some insurance.
Sometimes they can quiet down with good orthotics.
Better to go back and ask for the orthotics to be adjusted than to have foot surgery.
Give mother nature a chance!
If you must have surgery-call a local podiatrist that you get a referral from a friend or another doctor. When you call, let them know about the referral and they might be able to work out an affordable plan

Hope This Helps
Good Luck!
