Question
Hi I was told i have periferal neuropathy in my right foot. I am on Lyrica for it. Lyrica does NOT help. I have been getting more and more severe pain in my foot. I go in on Friday for an xray and cat scan for my foot. my toes are numb, foot is swollen, can't put any pressure on my foot. If I move my foot it hurts bad. I get electrical shock in both my feet. I don't sleep at nite its too painful. Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Dana,

If you have swelling and can't put pressure on your foot, it is not likely neuropathy.  However, you may have a problem with the right foot and neuropathy as well.  Also Lyrica does not always improve neuropathy symptoms.  If there is a question of neuropathy you should have a nerve conduction study.

I don't know your history but a vascular exam may be a possibility.  If you are able to have an MRI, I would think that it would be better than a CT scan.
