Lifted toenail

Question
The toenail of my big toe is lifted at the BASE of the nail, under the cuticle.  No blood under the nail, but there is painful pressure which seems to be from the lifting under the skin.  Can this be home treated with soaking, drying and wrapping with antibiotic ointment until it grows out?

Answer
Hi Pamela,

You can try that treatment.  However the nail may never grow out normally.  If you continue to have pain or start having drainage or redness, I would see a podiatrist.
