Question
Hi, thank you for your time. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I hit my left foot little toe on the door frame. Yes, call me grace!  When I hit it, it hurt so bad, swelled more than twice it's size, brused on toe and up the foot. After about a week the brusing was gone but still swollen. Then it bursed again. Now the brusing is gone but the toe is still VERY big and last night (2 1/2 weeks later) it started to feel numb, alittle tingle, if I touch it I can feel it but if I like rub it on the sheet or what ever it does not feel like it is awake. It kinda feels like when you have been sitting on your foot and it falls asleep. It is still very painful. Didnt know what to do. I didnt go to the Dr or ER everyone said there was nothing that can be done but time. Should I be concerned that after all this time it is feeling this way. Should I go to Dr or just wait awhile longer? Is it normal to feel numb. I know it will hurt, swell, bruse but all of a suddon this numbness makes me wonder whats going on and is this normal.  Thank you so much for your time!  Susan Bowling

Answer
Still normal for it to be swollen, but numbness should be a reason to visit your podiatrist to see if there is any other cause for it.  The swelling will lessen with time.
